Richard Juilliart is a freelance photographer based in Switzerland. His work has been published in all the major journals and publications of the world. Richard has been four times official Olympic Games photographer. His repertoire extends well beyond sports photography, and his documentary work includes the daily life of street children in Cambodia and amputees in Bosnia. Additionally he has covered natural disasters including the tsunami in Indonesia and earthquake in Haiti.
We invited Richard to submit some images in support of the competition and to help build awareness. These are in the non-competitive section of the contest.
I went to Cox’s Bazaar as part of a project looking at different humanitarian missions including Ethiopia, Liberia, Kenya and Jordan. When I was in the camps, I followed the activities of UNHCR. I plan to go back to Cox’s Bazar for a longer period in order to shoot different stories about refugees. I am waiting for the end of the covid crisis.

Described by UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres as "one of, if not the, most discriminated people in the world", the Rohingya are one of Myanmar's many ethnic minorities.
The massive numbers of refugees who fled to Bangladesh in 2017 joined hundreds of thousands of Rohingya who had fled Myanmar in previous years. Kutupalong is the largest refugee settlement in the world according to UNHCR.
